After two full studio albums and one live album, Brown Kid has now released Rusty Strings, the band's first EP, which consists of a total of six new tracks. The group began as the sole venture of front man Eduardo, whose nickname was "Brown Kid," but as the band grew, so did its members. The Kid brought in Scott, who supplies the drums, and Rodrigo, who contributes raps to select sections. But regardless of these changes, this EP is for the most part still rooted in the band's original acoustic nature.
The trio have a light, carefree attitude about them that combines the sunny, beachy vibes of artists such as Jack Johnson with the more rock/reggae qualities of artists like Sublime. And their melodies are such that they would be able to keep up with even the most well-known musicians of their genre.
The Album was recorded right in the heart of country music in Nashville, Tenn. No matter what mood you are in beforehand, by the end of Rusty Strings you will be in a much better one. This is one of those genuine feel-good albums that serves its purpose.
